WooCommerce Email Templates

Do you use WooCommerce to sell products, subscriptions or memberships on your WordPress site? Are your customer emails customized?

WooCommerce is the most widely used, and in my opinion, the best eCommerce platform available today for WordPress websites. The makers of WooCommerce have covered all the bases, and while I something cringe at the cost of the extensions, they’re always quality and they always work.

But one thing that I frequently have to show clients how to do right off the bat is customizing emails. To some it’s an afterthought, but when a customer makes a purchase on your website, an email (or multiple) is instantly sent from your site to their inbox, and you want that email to knock their socks off. It’s your first interaction as business partners, after all. The first touchpoint after they’ve committed dollars to your dream. You’ve got to make it count.

I found the following resources while helping client and community member Nicole M. from MajikLLC.com with her WooCommerce emails recently. Since the Women’s Site Support Community is all about sharing, I’m documenting it here to share with every other WooCommerce site owner out there:

WooCommerce Email Personalization

I recommend, typically, that only the first email come from WooCommerce. This is the email that confirms a person’s purchase and serves as their receipt, but it’s also your first chance to welcome them as a customer to your business or brand. Don’t squander that shot! Give them what they want right off the bat:

  • Big, clear buttons to access member benefits and members-only areas of the site
  • Contact information for you or for customer support, should they need help
  • FAQs that are common when members are new: How to log in, where to find key items, etc.
  • Set expectations – Let the purchaser know when and how you’ll next be in touch

Remember, once the WooCommerce emails start triggering, the person is not just a lead, they’re a customer. Treat them like it by making it easy for them to take the next step on your site. Have clear calls to action and instructions about what they can do next to engage with you or your brand.

Styling your WooCommerce Email Templates colors & footer

WooCommerce offers settings options, to change some basic look of the email templates, under WooCommerce -> Settings -> Emails-> Email Options. You can change the header image, title text, font color, footer text, etc.
